Be ACTIV Dementia Program
Now Delivered In-Home by Agestrong
Agestrong Health Group is proud to deliver the first in-home SPICE program in Australia, in collaboration with the University of Canberra. This innovative approach brings world-class dementia care directly to your doorstep—offering practical, personalised support for individuals living with dementia and their carers.

How we help
The Be ACTIV program is a ground breaking 12-week intervention designed to help people with dementia live well at home for longer. Developed by the University of Canberra and Canberra Health Services, the original SPICE (Sustainable Personalised Interventions for Cognition, Care, and Engagement) program is the first evidence-based, post-diagnostic support pathway in Australia – and now, for the first time, it’s available as a fully in-home service through Agestrong.
What the Program Includes
Delivered by our multidisciplinary allied health team, the Be ACTIV program provides a tailored mix of therapies and support, including:
- Cognitive stimulation therapy to promote memory and mental engagement
- Exercise programs to improve strength, balance, and daily function
- Dietary assessments to support brain and body health
- COPE strategies to help individuals manage everyday tasks in their home
- Carer support and coaching to build confidence, reduce stress, and enhance quality of life
Each program is customised to meet the specific needs of the person living with dementia and their family, delivered where they feel most comfortable—at home.

Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, Supported by Research
Supported by Dementia Australia’s expertise, evidence-based Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) offers meaningful benefits for people with mild‑to‑moderate dementia:
- Demonstrated improvements in global cognition, memory, language and daily functioning compared to usual care
- Positive effects on mood, self‑esteem and quality of life—even small gains are clinically meaningful
- Delivered in small groups or one‑on‑one, with structured sessions including games, discussion and creative activities
- Supported by Dementia Australia, CST enhances well‑being, social engagement and purpose through creative arts and mental stimulation
Supporting Dementia Care at Home with the COPE Program
Helping People with Dementia – and Their Carers – Live Well, Longer
Caring for someone with dementia can be both rewarding and incredibly challenging. The COPE (Care of People with dementia in their Environments) Program is an evidence-based, at-home support program that helps people with dementia manage everyday tasks more independently—while giving carers practical strategies to reduce stress and improve quality of life.
What Is the COPE Program?
The COPE Program is delivered by our specially trained occupational therapists, who work with families in the home over a series of sessions. The goal is to support the person with dementia to remain independent for as long as possible and to help carers feel confident and supported in their role.
What Does the Program Involve?
- Strategies to simplify daily tasks like dressing, bathing, or cooking
- Environmental modifications to reduce confusion or hazards
- Carer coaching to manage behavioural changes and reduce frustration
- Tailored routines to promote stability and reduce stress
